Jimmetta Carpenter
My name is Jimmetta Carpenter and I am a writer. I was born and raised in the Washington DC metropolitan area and have had a very big imagination since a very early age. I have been writing poetry since I was in elementary school around the age of ten. My love of words has allowed me to express myself in ways in which verbally I can not. I have received a poet’s choice award as well as an editor’s choice award both from the International Library of Poetry first in my senior year of high school and again in February 2007. In addition to writing poetry and novels I branched myself out into writing articles when I began my own online e-zine titled Free Fall in January of 2006 as well as tapping into my skills for editing and pulling together an entire publication on my own with the contribution of many amateur and experienced writers. I began another e-zine titled Spoken Like A Queen in September of 2007 also utilizing my editing skills. I have elaborate plans for starting my own empire beginning with a small publishing company in which I will of course publish my first novel and several poetry books I have already written as well as publishing other writer’s works. In addition I will turn my two e-zine’s into print magazines which can be purchased on stands locally and nationally. I aspire to be a very successful entrepreneur in many industries within the media and entertainment world. I am also a proud mother to one very energetic and creatively talented little girl. She is the light of my life and the reason that I consistently strive to be a better person and the reason why I refuse to give up on my dreams no matter how big they are and how impossible they may sometimes seem. I pride myself on forever being a dreamer but also on being persistent and strong-willed enough to make those dreams come to fruition.
